I'm probably going to take a while to hop over this one.
I was just informed that the $700b bailout was disapproved by the Senate.
Looks like we're into another recession.

HAHAHA this is like the funniest part of "Text Message Breakup"
Anyway, on another topic, I was watching videos of artists' renditions of O Holy Night, and I don't mean to sound like those typically fundamentalist Christians, but I feel that they shouldn't do it if it's to make it sexual!
Like what Jessica Simpson did to the song!
Look at that! If you want to sing Christmas songs, then PLEASE don't sexualise it!

Here's a qn:
ViG says: alright, there are two identical doors ok. one leads to heaven. the other to hell. they are identical so u dont know which one goes where ViG says: there are two guards in front of each door ok, both also completely identical ViG says: except for the fact that, for one guard, the one standing in front of the heaven door, he can only tell the truth ViG says: and the other guard in front of the hell door can only tell lies ViG says: u are allowed one question to ask them ViG says: presumably u want to find out the door to heaven so u have to find out which one is the heaven door ViG says: what question would you ask
First person to answer correctly on my tagboard wins a prize! Lol.

I'm currently eating sliced cherry tomatoes and canned baked beans.
It looks gross, but it doesn't taste half bad.
I'm only eating it for health reasons so... whatever.
Just got back a few results and they dont' look good.
Prelim results, not some blood test.
Yea and I really have to work extra hard.
The damned exams are about a month away. Damn.
Oh and something hilarious happened today.
I was at the Pan Pacific Hotel Gym, and I was holding the locker key and in the toilet,
and I dropped the key into the toilet bowl!
Then I stood up, realising what I had done.
And the damn automatic sensor flushed the key down!!
AND I ONLY HAD A TOWEL WITH ME.
So I was like, crap (no pun intended) cos the toilet had no one else inside.
So I waited till this friendly China guy came in to stock the towels. I told him what happened and he asked this guy to come and handle it.
So this old guy came in and he was like,
"I'll get the management to deal with you"
So rude. But the worst part was that I was stuck in the locker room wearing just a towel. Wth right.
So I waited for like 10 mins for the guy with the master key and he opened the locker with my stuff.
The China guy was very friendly though, and assured me that I wasn't in trouble.
In GREAT CONTRAST to the old guy.
ANYWAY.
Esplanade library was really crowded so I came home, psyching myself to study.
So I went to my parents' room and attempted to.
At least I managed to cover the 6 day War and the Yom Kippur War before heading off to watch E! True Hollywood Story of Angelina Jolie. Haha.
Tomorrow I WILL study.

A Friend.
A friend is someone
who listens to your ramblings without passing judgment,
whom you run to when you've had a bad time,
who accepts you for who you are (cliche but true!),
you can call when you feel afraid because of weird noises,
you can call when you feel stupid,
you can call when you feel lost and confused,
who lugs a heavy history file to school just to let you photocopy it,
who makes breakfast and prepares food just to cheer you up,
who lets you stay over when you need a place,
who sends thoughtful messages when you're not feeling well,
who keeps your secrets,
who lends you a pen just before a major exam and doesn't even bother to ask for it back,
can listen to your nonsense for a whole day,
who doesn't have to be right all the time,
you feel comfortable around,
who genuinely cares,
and..
who has read the above and knows they are being mentioned.
I have always thought about friendship and what it means. How the whole 'best friends forever' thing is supposed to work.
Is it possible to BE someone's friend but have them not befriend you back? Is there such a thing as a one sided friendship?
I think the worst part of any 'friendship' is finding out that someone whom you've trusted and regarded as a friend secretly hates you or is pretending to like you.
I can't stand it when people pretend to like someone else or puts up an appearance just to fool others.
While secretly whispering malicious gossip to the ear of another 'friend'.
I have had enough of politics and mind games,
enough of people faking around in general or keeping up appearances.
I know that in this world there is such a thing as being business minded and street smart.
But I promise myself that I won't compromise on my principles for the sake of achieving a certain goal.
After all,
What's the point of making it all the way to the top if you have to take everything that you are,
piss on it,
spit on it,
step on it,
then throw it in the dumpster (or the rubbish chute).
I don't want to aim to attain the highest academic/career achievement or make the most money or be the most popular.
I want to aim to be the most genuine person I can be.
I want to be a true friend.
I want to make a greater impact in other people's lives.

I just went to the docs and it turns out I have a giant ulcer in my throat
Yea that's what the ulcer is supposed to look like, the circle areas are my glands or smth.
It hurts 'like a bitch' but oh well the medicine is supposed to help.
Anyway I'm listening to Umbrella instrumental and it's actually quite nice without Rihanna's voice LOL.
AND,
We get back our papers next week. Luckily.
Lit and hist are probably this week though. Damn.
Whatever it is, I'm nt going to get discouraged by my results.
All the way!

I am currently in my parent's office now and I am FREEZING.
It is so freakishly cold and I am trying hard to study Handmaid's Tale.
As I look outside at office environment, I begin to draw comparisons between the office life and the Dystopian novels that I have to study.
My parents always said that when they step into the office, they are so caught up with work that they don't notice the time pass by.
It's like stepping into another world, another reality.
With the advancement of human society, are we launched into a subtle dystopia as well?
The rigidity and politics of our world, the indoctination of our youth with what we refer to as education, and the up and coming controversies in scientific progress of cloning and stem cell research force me to have a different take on this world.
Are we lost in our own worlds?
Are there multiple worlds and realities within this world?
Think about this:
How much can we fully know another human being? We are bounded and shackled by the limitations of the human seses, unable to fully comprehend another human individual. We are not granted access to each other's thoughts, and therefore would be reduced to interpreting the other human being's speech and actions.
Hence, we live in our own worlds. Society today merely consists of different worlds interacting together to form a big giant reality.
Like Cheryl said, "I live in my own bubble"
As we go home from work or school at the end of the day, we are in a sense transported from one world to another.
How many people can say that school/work and home are congruent?
Most of us are disgusted and appalled as we read the Handmaid's Tale and Brave New World. Maybe except for Matt, who always makes hilarious comments about being labelled as an 'unman' and sent to the colonies.
But I think the dystopias that both novels create does indeed cause us to look at our own world through different lenses(perhaps through Atwood's wrinkled eye sockets). It is only when we imagine the world scenarios will we be able to compare the present. Comparisons are drawn when we observe the promiscuity of the world state or the plight of the oppressed Handmaids.
"I like to believe that this is a story that I'm telling."
I only hope that we will never descend to those dystopias.
